Mood Board Monday: Rachel Ashwell’s Texas Prairie

Welcome back to Mood Board Monday! Today’s visual inspiration is for a cocodot feature story that I just photographed in Round Top, Texas. My friend Rachel Ashwell, the founder of Shabby Chic, recently opened an amazing B&B in this beautiful rural town. We decided together it would make a perfect Thanksgiving story. It’s American. It’s country. And like me, Rachel is very family-oriented.

“Marie-Antoinette goes to Texas” was the inspiration for the shoot, which mixes the faded beauty of the prairie with the relaxed glamour of Lone Star state. Our mood board started with swatches of fabric form Rachel’s Shabby Chic Couture collection. We added in some images of the Prairie that I took earlier this year while on assignment for Conde Nast Traveler magazine. I always love to include bits of ephemera on a mood board, so we pinned on the menu for the amazing Thanksgiving dinner we made and enjoyed, and some poetic expressions from Rachel’s blog.

You’ll see the completed story very soon on the feature section of the cocodot site.
